ASHENAFI GETANEH | Ethiopia | Washed

Ashenafi is a dedicated and hardworking producer who operates both a washing station and a dry‑processing site in Aricha and Ela Telicha. He began his journey in coffee in 2005, focusing on washed coffees, and expanded into natural processing in 2010. His washing station covers 2.2 hectares, providing space for 240 drying beds, and he also owns a 3.5‑hectare coffee farm in Ella Telicha.

Ethiopia has a beautiful tradition of supporting one’s community, and Ashenafi is proud to contribute beyond purchasing cherries from smallholder farmers. He provides compost to local growers to help improve their yields, built a community meeting hall in nearby Ella Telicha kebele, and constructed three homes for elderly members of the community.

The coffee is harvested with great care, the pulped cherries are fermented for 48 hours in water, thoroughly washed, dried on African raised beds, and meticulously hand‑sorted before being moved into storage.
